The A380 embodies 30 years of Airbus experience in applying intelligent innovation to its new products. The result is an airliner at the top of the scale in terms of operational effectiveness, efficiency and profitability.
Airbus’ double-deck jetliner benefits from significant weight savings brought by composites and other advanced materials – which comprise 25 per cent of its structure – as well as the weight, reliability and cost benefits of new systems such as the hydraulic system that operates at a pressure level of 5,000 psi. In addition, it features an advanced cockpit with the latest interactive displays and avionics, and retains the unique benefits of Airbus operational commonality between all fly-by-wire models.
By producing only about 75g of CO2 per passenger kilometre – which is well below current international limits – the A380 also is supporting the air transport sector’s commitment to minimise greenhouse gas emissions.
